Appflow is moving towards standardizing around Apple silicon build stacks for the iOS target platform to align with Apple’s plans to reduce support for Intel in the near future. This will expedite the retirement schedule for all Intel builds stacks in Appflow.
Intel based build stacks for macOS - 2022.09, macOS - 2022.10, and macOS - 2023.03 will be retired effective 8/1/2024. Any automations associated with these build stacks will be automatically migrated to the latest build stack (macOS - 2024.04 - Apple Silicon).
Intel based build stacks macOS - 2023.06, macOS - 2023.09, macOS - 2023.10, and macOS - 2024.04 Intel based build stacks will also be retired effective 10/1/2024. Any automations associated with these build stacks will be automatically migrated to the equivalent Apple silicon build stack (e.g. automations associated with macOS - 2023.06 will migrate to macOS - 2023.06 - Apple silicon)
Starting Oct 1, 2024, any new build stack will only support Apple silicon
To ensure optimal support and performance, we strongly encourage you to switch from Intel-based Macs to Apple silicon as soon as possible. With Apple’s announcement of reducing support for Intel in near future, upgrading to Apple silicon ensures you receive the best support and access to the latest features.
If you are using an Intel build stack, we recommend testing builds on the latest buildstack or the equivalent Apple silicon stack. This will ensure that your application continues to build successfully on silicon stacks ahead of Intel build stack retirement.
If you are already using silicon stacks, no action is required. These stacks will continue to be provided and new build stacks will continue to be released.
